Malang Wakool shares the story of Rebecca and Simon, from their hometowns and family connections, where they grew up in Bondi and Suffolk England to today, as they come together in marriage.

Central to the design two large people symbols connect on a central gathering circle reflective of Rebecca and Simon, their love for one another and the growth of their family into the future.

This design is connected to steppingstones, each flowing into the centre, highlighter the couple’s journey from growing up in their hometowns to coming together as one.

Rebecca’s hometown of Bondi is depicted to the right with traditional water symbolism and engraving depicting the magnificent sandstone cliffs of the area, that fall away into the ocean highlighting her love of the sea.

Simon’s hometown of Suffolk, England is represented through woven roaming fields of yellow flowers, wheat and rye seen throughout this rural farming area.

Each has a gathering circle overlaid with traditional people symbols, highlighting strength of family, friends and strong community ties.

Together this artwork celebrates the lives of two people, sharing their unique story, from their  hometowns of diverse natural beauty, to come together across vast distances to be together as one.
